High Bare Peak Limited

High Bare Peak Limited is a company set up to retain, enhance and protect indigenous biodiversity on Banks Peninsula. The networking efforts of Alice Shanks and Lindsay Main brought many of the original shareholders together. High Bare Peak Ltd was incorporated in 2021 in order to purchase the property at Little River that has subsequently been gifted the name Te Whenua Ora. The 24 shareholders are represented by a board of five directors. Management responsibilities are undertaken by task groups – their wide range of activities represent the diversity of shareholder interests.




Our collective objectives set out in our shareholders agreement are to:

  • Retain, enhance and protect indigenous biodiversity
  • Showcase natural regeneration
  • Contribute to scientific knowledge of indigenous regeneration
  • Provide managed public use
  • Operate sustainably and profitably for the benefit of the environment
